Our moods tend to begin with a single note - an image, a view, a conversation, a song, a physical object, a smell, a car boot find. From there we start to build in all the other elements.
Our December edit, Under Your Spell, started with a song. It felt dazzling & hypnotic; the perfect track around which to form an edit launching in the height of party season. And so began our search for vintage finds to add to the collection - car boots, charity shops, vintage markets, antique stores, auctions, and private sellers all form part of the hunt. I only pick the very, very best items - my rule of selection is that it must feel unique and timeless, + I must personally love it and want to keep it for myself.
At the same time as sourcing, I am building the mood via images and music. These other creative elements add texture and depth... a sensory story-telling of sorts. They have the additional benefit of guiding me when I am selecting items to include... each piece has to fit with the visual and sound moodboard. If it doesn't, it gets relegated to some as yet unformed future mood.
